My Journal
(Picking up where I have left ..)
A time of low profile and grieving The last time I shared with you was in March 08. I found myself still missing my mother dearly. Every corner of the house reminded me so much of her. My dear mother had practically prepared all the hand towels, floor mats, kitchen covers, and pots and pans all neatly and carefully wrapped up. I felt so ashamed of myself when I went through all the items, and my heart really longs for her presence.
Even up to now, at the market place and the neighbors are still speaking so fondly and proudly of her when she was around. I took comfort in that she is with the Lord, and she had left a deep impact of her faith and walk with God to those who knew her. Praise the Lord.
Eye Cataract Operation.
I had both my eyes operated on 18th March (right), and 1st July (left). Thank God for providing the medical insurance through my former church which covered all the expenses. Due to my low potassium, I had fainting spell every now and then. My left eye incurred a retina jelly problem and I had flashes of light and patches. Hence doctor advised less movement, and completely abstained from cooking, and other activities.
The last few months, it had been a time of silence before the Lord, and listening to music and messages. I was not able to do much with the emails, and internet, hence the long delay of my sharing with each of you. I covet your prayers for both my eyes for a complete healing and recovery.
My little garden
Remember I told you about my small garden outside my home along the common corridor?
Well, I am so proud and pleased that my gardening has improved. I learn how to trim the plants, how much water to be used, replenish the soil every now and then etc.
I have planted curry leaves for cooking hot spicy curry meal, chili padi which is a kind of small red chili, two pots of herbal plants , tom-yam leaves for cooking Thai food, money-plant (but too bad there is no instant cash coming up!), and a spring-onions I used this often for steam-fish.
I have just planted tulips, and sun-flowers. Am not sure whether they will grow due to our weather.
When the seed that I have planted in the soil, started to blossom and mature into a grown plant, I remember what Jesus said in Mark 4:30-32, What shall we say the kingdom of God is like? Or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground. Yet when planted it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade.
My neighbors are admiring my skill in planting and also amazed how each seed I planted have started to grow so beautifully. It is also an opportunity for me to share about the great Creator of all nature, and sow the seed into the kingdom of God.
Praise God for the wonderful nature around us!
Well, that s all for now. God bless.
Always yours in His vineyard,
Nancy Lim
